The fish that swims upstream provides more than just a delicious dish.
SALMON is fast becoming one of the most popular foods to eat, with its versatility and its added health benefits. But did you know that your brain has a favourite fatty acid?
Docosahexaenoic acid
This favourite fatty acid is DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), this is something that metabolically we are incapable of making on our own, we must obtain it from our diet.
The good news… Salmon is packed with it!
This essential fatty acid protects neurons from injury and helps produce neurotransmitters that tell our cells what to do.
To keep your DHA levels up and at a healthy level in order to help keep your memory strong, it is recommended that we eat at least 2 portions of fish a week, one of them oily.
