Fish and chips are the undisputed National dish of Great Britain and a firm favourite for the whole family.

Whether it's the main meal or miniature sized cones for those festive parties, Fish and Chips are a must at Christmas time.

 

Ingredients

4 x thick cod fillets

8 oz self-raising flour

Salt and black pepper

10fl oz fridge cold lager

 

Method

01. Preheat the dipping oil to 120 degrees.

02. Increase the heat of the fryer to 180 degrees.

03. Season the fish and dust lightly with the flour.

04. To make the batter, sift the flour and salt into a bowl and whisk in the lager. Add more lager if the batter is too thick.

05. Thickly coat the cod fillets and gently add into the hot fat.

06. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.

07. In the meantime, peel and cut your potatoes and deep fry for about 10 minutes.

08. Plate up, tuck in and enjoy!
