Oysters and other bivales (scallops, mussels) have long had the reputation of being an aphrodisiac and yes there actually is some scientific proof that they do promote desire, but that isn’t the only reason we eat them.

Oysters are low in saturated fats (the bad fats) but high in unsaturated fats (the good fats). They are also high in protein, rich in vitamins and minerals and low in calories. Based on modern day living and how we now look in to what we are eating in greater depth these points alone make them a winner in our eyes.

A valentine’s menu just wouldn’t be complete without oysters. Firstly, because they are a Valentines tradition, secondly because our very own valentine Casanova says so and the most transparent reason being that they are absolutely delish!

We have a couple of lovely recipe ideas in our recipe section to get your creative juices flowing. With a whole choice of fantastic ingredients out there to accompany your beautiful seafood, the world is your Oyster.
